Charleston Event Photography: Feast Upon Charleston Supper Club

If you know me, you know that eating is my favorite sport.

So when my lovely friend Chef Christopher Hyatt needed some photography of his Charleston supper club, Feast Upon Charleston, it was not a hard day to go to work. A secret supper club in a room filled with vintage pieces? YES. Please.

It was a fun-filled evening of new friends, delicious eats, and stimulating conversation. And while I did light some of the shots with equipment I'd brought with me, let's be real. The glorious part about coming into this nondescript building to discover a secret world rich with antiques and gourmet cuisine is that you're in on a secret experience.

I quickly decided I wanted to photograph the evening in a way that captured that sultry, moody vibe so unique to Charleston summers. Anyone can light a scene, but this was a story I needed to tell. It was a story of Old South meets modern fine dining, of historic Charleston colliding with a contemporary meeting of the minds... over candlelight and vintage glassware, of course.

Capturing the developing intimacy of the evening was so important to me, and I loved the way the light changed and played across the space as the initial meet and greet gave way to a funky, vibe-forward cocktail hour (craft cocktails, obviously) and then a formal dinner.

I could go ON about how smitten I am with the space and mood Chef Christopher Hyatt has created... but then I would need to talk about his oysters Charleston (you'll never go back to traditional oysters Rockefeller, trust me) and I would never stop talking. I'd rather let you look at some photos. After all, I suppose that's why you're here!
